PSYPACT Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT)
I am a licensed psychologist who is deeply passionate about my work. I believe that positive change is achievable when my clients and I invest a lot of hard work into serving their life goals. I work collaboratively with my clients to foster a sense of empowerment and ownership in the therapeutic process. Much of what is learned in therapy is learned because it takes place in a real, authentic relationship.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING and EDUCATION:
I have been working as a mental health therapist specializing in women’s issues since 1992 when I started as the Assistant Director of a trauma crisis center. After completing my MA degree at West Chester University in 1994, I earned my PhD at Colorado State University in 2000. During my predoctoral internship at the Medical College of Georgia, I was introduced to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and began facilitating DBT skills training groups. I am also on staff as an adjunct professor at West Chester University, teaching in their clinical psychology doctoral program.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING:
DBT is a therapeutic approach that deeply informs my work with clients. I completed intensive training in DBT by Behavioral Tech in 2008 and became certified by the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification (DBT-LBC) as a certified individual clinician in 2017.  This certification process is the only one approved by the treatment developer, Marsha Linehan.

While DBT is my primary therapeutic approach, I have also received training in and often use other evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) strategies. I believe in tailoring my approach to each individual client and their unique needs, and these additional approaches allow me to be flexible and responsive to a wide range of concerns.

DEDICATION TO HELPING OTHERS:
In addition to my work with clients, I also provide introductory training on DBT for therapists. I have presented trainings at a variety of organizations, including the Renfrew Center, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), Survivors of Abuse in Recovery (SOAR), The Light Center at Life Counseling Center, Pennsylvania Group Psychotherapy Society, and Bryn Mawr School of Social Work. I believe that sharing my knowledge and expertise with other mental health professionals is crucial to advancing the field and improving outcomes for clients.

In addition to my work as a trainer and clinician, I am proud to be on staff as an adjunct professor at West Chester University, where I teach in their clinical psychology doctoral program. I’m passionate about helping train the next generation of mental health professionals and ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to provide effective, evidence-based treatment to their clients.

My philosophy is grounded in the belief that change is most possible in the context of an accepting and validating relationship
